Role Description:

The Program Coordinator for the Global Universities Program (GUP) will be responsible for instilling a global mindset and providing international experiences for the program’s 7,000+ scholars and alumni in Kenya and around the world. This will include running a college counseling program for scholars interested in studying at top universities around the world as well as identifying opportunities for scholars studying at local universities to gain international exposure and experience.

  • To manage the Global Universities Program, with all its components in Kenya and in the subsidiaries i.e. Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
  • To provide comprehensive college counseling support to ELP scholars applying to international universities at undergraduate and graduate levels. The support shall include all aspects related to the university application process, including personal essay editing, standardized exam preparation, writing letters of recommendation, interview support, and all other related aspects.
  • Increase awareness of opportunities for education abroad and to expand global admission and scholarship opportunities for ELP scholars across the USA, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South Africa.
  • To build relationships with international universities and other international partners, and to keep abreast of college counseling and international exposure trends, data, research, best practices, and general landscape in the region and globally.
  • To identify and provide opportunities for ELP scholars in local universities to get global exposure and international experience.
  • To motivate, encourage, and inspire all ELP scholars to develop a global mindset, that will enable them to excel in cross-cultural, international work environments.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from a leading institution and global exposure from any field. Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience and excellent transcript will be considered.
  • Should have at least a year of work experience in an international setting, preferably in a relevant area such as college admissions, international admissions, admissions consulting, or college counseling.
  • A minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience in education, youth services, or related field.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and experience working with diverse populations, particularly in higher education.
  • Familiarity with international higher education systems and program models and best practices for study abroad is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong writing and communications skills.
  • A high degree of personal and professional integrity.
  • A strong role model for youth and experience developing one-on-one relationships with youth of different backgrounds and abilities.
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office, including advanced Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills.
